Homemade Creamsicles (Only 6 Simple Ingredients!)
If you’re anything like me, you’re always looking for ways to recreate childhood favorites with simple ingredients you can actually feel good about serving your family.
These homemade creamsicles have that classic creamy vanilla center and bright orange flavor we all remember, but they’re made with just 6 simple ingredients—no artificial flavors, dyes, or mystery ingredients.
They’re the perfect summer treat to keep stocked in the freezer, and the kids absolutely love them. I like making a big batch at the beginning of the week so there’s always something refreshing ready to grab after playing outside.
If you’re making these often (and trust me, you will!), I also recommend having individual popsicle wrappers on hand. They make storing homemade popsicles so much easier and keep them from sticking together in the freezer. I’ll link both the popsicle molds and the wrappers I use below.

Ingredients
Orange Layer
- 2¼ cups orange juice
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- â…› cup honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of sea salt
Cream Layer
- 1½ cups heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
Make the Orange Layer
Add the orange juice, heavy cream, honey, vanilla, and sea salt to a blender and blend until smooth.
If you prefer a perfectly smooth creamsicle without any pulp, pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer before using.
Set aside while you prepare the cream layer.
Make the Cream Layer
In a cold mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream and vanilla extract.
Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, whip the cream until stiff peaks form.
Gently fold in the sweetened condensed milk until fully incorporated. The mixture should be thick, smooth, and creamy.

Assemble the Popsicles
Alternate layers of the orange mixture and cream mixture in your popsicle molds. You can keep the layers distinct for that classic creamsicle look or gently swirl them together with a skewer if you’d like a marbled effect.
Insert the popsicle sticks and freeze for at least 6 hours, although overnight will give you the best results.
When you’re ready to enjoy one, pop out of silicone mold, or if using plastic or metal run the mold under warm water for a few seconds to help release the popsicles.
If you’re making extras (which I highly recommend), wrap each popsicle individually in freezer-safe popsicle bags or cellophane wrappers before storing them together in a freezer bag. They’ll stay fresh much longer and won’t stick together.
My Tips
- Fresh squeezed orange juice gives the best flavor, but store-bought works great too.
- Don’t skip the pinch of salt—it helps balance the sweetness and really brings out the orange flavor.
- Freeze overnight whenever possible for the creamiest texture.
- Make a double batch. These disappear much faster than you’d expect!
Equipment I Use
These homemade creamsicles are one of those treats that taste nostalgic while being made with ingredients you can recognize. They’re creamy, refreshing, incredibly easy to make, and a freezer staple in our house all summer long.
